On Tuesday 6 March, at 7.30pm, around twenty top music students have been invited to give a special concert at the Eastgate Theatre. The students have been selected by senior staff at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and although young they have all shown extraordinary talent and are regarded as the professionals of the future.
After a recent concert, 'The Scotsman' wrote:
'These weren’t just youngsters with advanced technical expertise; these were truly engaging performers.'
St Mary's Music School is Scotland's specialist music school and the Choir School of St Mary's Cathedral, offering music and academic education to young musicians aged 9-19. It is one of nine Music and Dance Excellence schools in the UK.
On their last visit to Peebles, in March 2010, musicians from St Mary's Music School gave an outstanding concert which proved to be one of the highlights of the season. In response to popular demand, a follow-up visit was requested right away and this concert marks their much-anticipated return to Peebles.
